A 39 year old man from Rochdale, Colin Blanchard, pleaded guilty to a string of charges relating to the making, possession and distribution of indecent images of children, and child sex assaults. Blanchard had received a police caution for possession of indecent images of children in 2002 and was placed on the sex offenders registers until 2007. Mr Justice Royce has indicated that he would sentence Blanchard, Angela Allen and Nursery worker, Vanessa George to "substantial prison terms". Described by many officers as one of the most sickening and evil cases in UK history, the case has highlighted the very real fact of female paedophiles.
