JULY 2011 - LYNNE FEATHERSTONE BLOGS
Equalities Minister, Lynne Featherstone MP recently met with our Service Director, Duncan Craig, to discuss the issue of male sexual abuse and rape. The meeting was a great chance for the two to discuss many issues attached to the sexual abuse and rape of men,
including legacy issues, difficulties men face in coming forward and asking for help, and fair and equal access to services. Duncan says "Lynne was a breath of fresh air. I felt that as we talked, she really understood what was being said and actively
contributed to the conversation. It was a pleasure to meet with her and look forward to future conversations that may bring about change. Since their meeting, Lynne has used her website to blog about the meeting.

15.04.11 - FUNDING NEWS: THE VICTIMS FUND
Following weeks of hard work putting together our funding bid to the Ministry of Justice 'Victim & Witness General Fund', today we found out that sadly we have been unsuccessful and wont be awarded any funds.
All of us here at Survivors Manchester are obviously devastated to hear this news as the impact on the organisation is great. Sadly, we are no longer able to provide our telephone helpline, the Safe Room has been cut to meet every 2 weeks,
and our need for our own secure space has become more urgent. We will be writing to local MPs and elected officials to ask for support in the forthcoming weeks.

05.02.11 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US
On the 5th February 2009, a certificate arrived on our doorstep stating that Survivors Manchester had legally become a charitable organisation.
We were officially born! Over the two years we have achieved some great things, such as: being involved with Baroness Stern on the Stern Review
(the first review of how public authorities deal with rape); being a part of the Strategic Board for St Mary's Sexual Assault Referral Centre (the Gold Standard
in SARCs in the UK); and working with Greater Manchester Police to train specialist officers dealing with sexual assault and rape. We have been in contact with many
guys over the two years and supported them in their own unique healing journey's. We have many people to thank, from our board to our volunteers, service users and supporters.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for everything.

06.12.10 - REPORT RAPE CAMPAIGN 2010
Survivors Manchester was proud to be a part of a fantastic partnership, comprising of St Mary's Sexual Assault Referral Centre, Greater Manchester Police,
and Manchester Rape Crisis, that launched the Report Rape Campaign from St Marys Centre today. The campaign was supported by press coverage from Granada TV, BBC Radio Manchester,
Real Radio, Key 103 and online media. The partnership created two striking posters that were distributed across the city to various organisations, shops, bars and public places,
and a social networking campiagn on Facebook and Twitter. Messages will be uploaded every day throughout December reminding people that its never too late to report rape and that
there are some fantastic organisations in this fantastic city of ours supporting both men and women, boys and girls through this time. Our message is simple, you dont need to
suffer in silence... Report Rape. For more information, check out our Facebook page at facebook.com/ReportRape2010
