Campaigns:

Survivors Manchester is often involved in various campaigns and events that help shine a light on the needs of victims and survivors of sexual abuse, rape and all kinds of sexual violence. A single voice always makes a sound, a collection of single voices together makes a noise!

From letter writing to Government and authorities, to standing up and being visible at various rally’s and marches, this section will show you what we’ve been up to and what we’re currently involved in.

‘Stop Child Abuse Now’ Rally 2009

For the ‘Stop Child Abuse Now’ Rally 2009, Survivors Manchester not only attended with a few of its board members, but we were also the designated PR representatives.

So at 1.00pm on Saturday 26th September, kindly escorted by the Metropolitan Police, we set off from Temple Place and marched through the streets of London to our final destination… Parliament Square!!!

Right on the doorstep of power, over a hundred participants (including some inspirational passers-by, including a group of friends from Germany who took the microphone for a rousing speech) stood up and made their voices heard. Men, women and children stood together against child abuse, many survivors themselves and told Westminster exactly what they thought of the abuse of children… STOP IT NOW!

The day culminated in a celebration of survival with all the rally participants coming together for a sing-a-long and dance to, well what else could it be… I WILL SURVIVE!

Annual March & Rally Against Child Sexual Abuse: London 2008

On Saturday 27th September 2008 an amazing and inspirational group of people set off from Marble Arch at approx 12.30pm and took to the streets of London and made our voices heard! As it wound through the streets of central London, hundreds of people stood at the roadside cheered and clapped their hands, whilst cars and buses beeped their horns in support.

As the march came to an end, we wound our way into a packed Trafalgar Square and escorted by the police to Nelson's Column where for next few hours, we sat and listened to some of the most inspirational people anyone would wish to meet stand up, take the mic and have their say. The support from those wandering around Trafalgar Square was fantastic. Many people stood by, watching and listening to what people had to say. It was a truly emotional, fulfilling, inspiring and fun day and we cannot wait till next year. Those that were there should all agree that we certainly BROKE THE SILENCE that day!
