Events:
It is very important that we continue to raise the profile of Survivors Manchester and highlight the needs of male survivors. It is also vital that we continue to raise funds to help us continue not only the work we have started but also push forward and bring much more needed support services to male survivors, their friends and families!
From a small fun run to a 10k city wide event, auctions to information events, online and offline, we aim to use events to raise money, raise our profile and raise the issue that men are survivors too!
BUPA Great Manchester Run 2010
After months of training, one of our loyal How to Help took to the streets on Sunday 16th May 2010, for the BUPA Great Manchester Run.
The BUPA Great Manchester Run is Britain's premier 10k course, attracting over 33,000 runners each year. The on-road course routes around some fantastic sites with race highlights being shown nationwide through BBC TV.
This was the second year Christos Tsaprounis has ran the Great Manchester Run for Survivors Manchester and he is a true winner in our eyes. Over the past two years, he has raised over £900 which goes directly to services supporting male survivors of sexual abuse and rape.
BUPA Great Manchester Run 2009
The BUPA Great Manchester Run took place in Manchester, on 17th May 2009. The 10km charity run attracts both amateurs, many in costume, and professional runners alike. The event has been growing over the years since it started in 2003. We were delighted that friend and loyal supporter of Survivors Manchester, Christos Tspraonius, decided that his run was going to be in aid of Survivors Manchester and spent much preparation in the gym, early morning training and collecting sponsorship money. Marathon runner Haile Gebrselassie won the men's 10km race despite a strong head wind and wet weather and our own champion, Christos finished in 56mins and 5 seconds! Well done Champ!
