Happy 10th Birthday Team!
On 05.02.2019 we stand here as a team in an organisation celebrating 10 years of delivering services to male survivors of sexual abuse, rape and sexual exploitation.
Over the last 10 years, we have said hello and goodbye to many colleagues, volunteers and trustees; and whilst its not always been a smooth journey, it’s been nothing short of electric!
But today we were so proud to welcome back some familiar faces, such as: Lee, our founding Chair that welcomed Duncan’s enthusiasm and committed to helping make the idea a reality; Wes, one of our founding Trustees who stood by Duncan through thick and thin; to Lee, one of our more recent Trustees that brought his own experience of male survivorship and prison to the table, influenced the direction of our work but sadly for us had to say goodbye to the board to go and fulfil his dream of setting up his own project (see www.hmpasties.com) which we are so proud of him for.
Our current team, including Alison, Carl, Stuart, Ross, Chris WB, Chris S, Becky, Duncan, Gayna and Trevor welcomed our current Chair, Craig; one of our longer standing Trustee’s, Kate; and our newest Trustee, Christos; along with some of our old friends to a special celebration at Seven Bro7hers Brewery in the heart of Manchester for burger and a pint, and a piece of birthday cake that was specially made for us.
Being together on such an important day really reminds us of the power of being together with others in communities that understand. As we always preach, whilst abuse happens in isolation, healing happens together.
