One Year Later…

On the 01.11.2018 we opened the doors on a brand new, purpose built interior, Survivors Manchester Centre with the hope that the hard work and effort was worth it and all those that entered the space felt safe.

Once Craig (our Chair) and Fran (our Treasurer) had agreed with the board that to meet demand and secure our future we needed to move, it was down to Chris (our Head of Operations) and Duncan (our CEO) to go hunting to find the next space. Duncan says “Chris and I spent hours and hours trailing through commercial rental websites, walking around Manchester looking at ‘FOR RENT’ hoardings and we kept drawing blanks”.

Months and months went by and nothing! Then Chris stumbled upon an ad for a space in Salford at a place called Deva City. So off we went and as soon as we saw it it was clear that this place had potential! After some negotiations and discussions with solicitors, we signed the lease and began building. The build went on throughout October and with the help and planning of the staff team, we opened on 01.11.2018.

Since opening the doors a year ago, we have welcomed over 600 hundred survivors to Deva City; had a number of journalists and press visit; government officials step through the door; and many many key partners.

Happy 1st Birthday Unit 9, Deva City Office Park… you are the hub male survivors need and the centre Greater Manchester needed!
