Qualified Male Therapist Wanted

06.01.15 | News

Survivors Manchester is excited to be able to offer an exciting voluntary opportunity for a fully qualified counsellor/psychotherapist. We are looking for a co-facilitator for our psychotherapy group pilot, specifically for adult male survivors of childhood sexual abuse, due to start in January 2015.
The Therapy Group will run for twenty weekly sessions, taking place every Thursday evening from 7.00pm to 9.00pm, followed by a 30 minute facilitator debrief, post session.
Adapted from an American framework, the therapy group structure incorporates an integrative format consisting of psycho-educational, and less structured elements, throughout the twenty sessions. As a charitable organisation we are unfortunately unable to fund this post at present. However, travel expenses will be reimbursed and a nominal financial contribution towards external supervision will be made.
The post is an exciting opportunity and valuable, professional experience for a male therapist for this male only group.
Additional requirements will include:

  • Previous experience of working with trauma
  • Previous experience of working with groups would be beneficial, although not essential
  • Able to commit to twenty weekly sessions
  • Some experience of delivering psycho-education sessions/information would also be desirable, although not essential

Interested therapist should send their CV to and contact:
Tom Taylor, Clinical Lead on or call 0161 236 2182.
