The Bishop of Manchesters statement on the Waddington Inquiry

26.10.14 | News

The Bishop of Manchester, Rev David Walker, has issued a statement on the findings of the Waddington Inquiry.
The Bishop states

“My heart goes out to those whose lives have been irreparably damaged by what Robert Waddington did to them. When I read of the ongoing effects of his abuse, decades after it took place, it makes my blood run cold”

Manchester Diocese, like many others, now has various safeguarding processes in place and a designated Safeguarding Officer. However, Survivors Manchester would like the Diocese to understand that for many people, reporting to the very institution where the abuser works can be impossible and we would like the Diocese to begin a frank and open conversation with those independent services in the community to how they can better work together.
