Today is a big day for Survivors Manchester, as a report that we have been heavily involved in is finally launched by the Office of the Children’s Commissioner.
The report, entitled “If Only Someone Had Listened” is the culmination of a two year inquiry into Child Sexual Exploitation in Groups and Gangs (CSEGG) and sets out a number of recommendations for policy makers, police, education and those working with children and young people.
Survivors Manchester Service Director, Duncan Craig, said

When I was asked to meet with Sue Berelowitz from the OCC to talk about boys and young men in the context of sexual exploitation, I thought it would just be one meeting. But there has been much contact and then in July I was invited to CEOP to present to a room full of experts in the field. Today, being in the Speaker of the House of Commons Room watching the launch of the report brought a tear to my eye. Sue and the team have really looked deep into this issue and I think the final report is just fantastic. Well done to everyone involved but now we have to make this live. I know my organisation will be looking carefully at the recommendations and adopting the framework they suggest. Its so important that evidence like this doesn’t end up sitting in a library or on a shelf somewhere.
